Honoring 200 Years of History, Community, and Pride

The Town of Burns is turning 200 years old! Join us for a weeklong community celebration marking this incredible milestone in our town’s history. From its founding in 1826 to today, Burns has remained a place where families, neighbors, and generations come together — and this special anniversary is a chance to reflect on our past while celebrating the bright future ahead.

Throughout the week, residents and visitors alike can enjoy a full lineup of activities, entertainment, and events celebrating the people and spirit that make Burns special.

Planned Events & Activities

Celebrate a full week of community pride, local history, and family fun as the Town of Burns turns 200!

Highlights include:

  • Monday, May 25Memorial Day Parade honoring our veterans and community heroes.

  • Friday, May 29Family Square Dancing — a fun night for all ages filled with music, laughter, and hometown tradition.

  • Saturday, May 30 – A full day of activities including the Soap Box Derby (ages 5+), Historic Walking Tour, and live music by Lucky Number.

  • Sunday, May 31Non-Denominational Church Service celebrating our community’s faith and togetherness.

Get Involved

The Bicentennial Celebration is a true community effort — and we’d love your help in making it unforgettable!

Ways to participate:

  • Volunteer: Help organize events, assist with setup, or welcome visitors during celebration week.

  • Sponsor: Local businesses and organizations can show their support through event sponsorships or in-kind donations.

  • Share Your History: We’re collecting photos, stories, and memorabilia from Burns’ past to display throughout the week. If you have something to contribute, we’d love to include it!

  • Spread the Word: Share our updates with friends, neighbors, and former residents so everyone can join in the celebration.
