Town of Burns Regular Meeting
February 12th 2025 6pm
87 Main St Canaseraga NY
Call to Order & Pledge to the Flag: 6:06pm
James Robinson (Zenobe): Representative from company pursuing an application to build a battery storage system in the Burns township. The purpose of a battery storage facility is to charge batteries during off-peak times and sell the electricity during on-peak times. The project is not connected with wind or solar, it is directly connected to the substation. The proposed property is Marie Hoffman’s on Sate Rte 961F, about 14 acres. Planning permit will hopefully be 2nd quarter of this year, with construction starting next year. Councilman Hurlbut asked if more of the facilities could be built in our area, James stated yes but it is unlikely.
Paul Rogers: ESRG is a safety consultant for Zenobe. The company provides emergency response teams, annual training for fire personnel, proper signage, Central Stations, video monitoring, annual inspections, a qualified person within 4 hours for decommission, and makes sure batteries are “listed” by doing performance tests. The battery cells are stored in large containers similar to shipping containers that are climate controlled and shutdowns to prevent overheating. All information is available to view online.
