Maintaining Safe Roads and Reliable Infrastructure

The Town of Burns Highway Department is tasked with maintaining and preserving our town’s road network, ensuring that residents can travel safely in all seasons. From pothole repairs to snow removal, roadside mowing to drainage management, our crew works year-round to care for the infrastructure that connects our community.

We respond promptly to concerns and inquiries from residents, and our services include a broad range of maintenance tasks that keep Burns’ roads and right-of-ways functional, safe, and accessible.

Key Duties & Services

  • Responding to resident concerns and inquiries promptly

  • Maintaining culvert pipes, roadside ditches, and drainage systems

  • Repairing and installing road signs, posts, and guide rails

  • Mowing roadsides and trimming brush and trees in rights-of-way

  • Roadway striping and line markings

  • Street sweeping of roads and intersections

  • Patching potholes and crack sealing

  • Performing hot and cold patch repairs

  • Winter snow plowing and salting operations

  • Deploying temporary road signage (road closed, road work, flooding)

  • Maintaining highway vehicles, equipment, and buildings
