HISTORICAL SOCIETY

Preserving the Past, Inspiring the Future

The Marjorie Dieter Mastin Historical Society is dedicated to preserving, protecting, and sharing the rich history of our community. From early settlement and agricultural roots to modern-day progress, the Historical Society works to ensure that the stories, artifacts, and landmarks that define Burns are never forgotten.

Through research, exhibitions, publications, and educational outreach, the Society brings local history to life for residents, students, and visitors alike. Members volunteer their time to collect photographs, preserve records, restore historic sites, and document the lives of the people who helped shape the town we know today.

The Historical Society also collaborates closely with the Town Historian to archive important documents and create public displays that celebrate Burns’ heritage — from its founding in 1826 through its 200-year Bicentennial and beyond.
